ISLAND COVE HOTEL & LEISURE PARK - KAWIT, CAVITE

11:26 PM

If your geography books has mistakenly taught you that the nearest island to Metro Manila is Corregidor, now is the time to forget that. There is an island that is in fact, visible from the Coastal Road. Previously Pulo Ni Burunggoy, the island is now known as Covelandia; the home of a hotel complex, a swim and splash park, a wildlife sanctuary, some restaurants and an open concert ground, collectively, the Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park

Just 15 minutes away from Makati sans the traffic, you wouldn't know that by political jurisdiction, the island is already part of Kawit in Cavite. I suppose you don't even know that the island exists in the first place! You're not alone. Me either. But starting this summer, you now have a new destination for some well-deserved R and R with family and friends.

We toured the island for a day and have these photos to share. Welcome to Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park!

Where To Stay

Since it is an entire island, the choice of accommodation is also vast. You can choose from hotel rooms, cabanas or dormitories. The hotel rooms are ideal for family guests with overnight rates ranging from PhP3,400 to PhP4,000 depending on the season. A Premiere Deluxe Queen Room can accommodate up to 6 guests; 4 adults and 2 kids which only costs from PhP5,300 to PhP6,300.

For group tours, dormitories can welcome up to 20 people with 10 double deck beds for a fee of only PhP10,400 to PhP11,400. They also have the detached units to give you a more homey atmosphere. A simplex apartment-type space for 4 adults and 2 kids only costs PhP5,900 to PhP6,800. More details about Island Cove's accommodations here - www.islandcovephil.com.

Where To Eat

You don't have to hop back to the mainland to get your food or bring your picnic baskets with you. Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park has 4 restaurants and bars to cater to your dining needs: Fishing Village (Filipino meal in a hut overlooking Manila Bay), Sangley Point (barbecued ribs, chicken and meat specialties for some alfresco dining), iCafe (for light snacks), and the Bayside KTV (for some good time Karaoke with family and friends).

What To See

You don't have to leave the island too if you want close encounters with wildlife all so suddenly. I was surprised they have ostriches, a fully grown phython and a lion among the many animals kept in the Island Cove Wildlife Sanctuary. Where to Swim

Let's start with four intertwining, colorful giant slides and so we'll have a grasp of what the fun will be like. The Oceania Swim and Splash Park is home to the 3,000 square meter two-layered lagoon shaped swimming pool. There will also be inflatables at the Kiddie Boating Pool which is known to be one of the safest in the Philippines.
