Globe Platinum Ambassador Chef JP Anglo Cooks Up

1:50 AM

What does it take to be the face of Globe Platinum, Globe's sub-brand for their VIP customers? Does he have to be the richest of the rich? Not really. Written across the requirements are two inspiring words; passion and success.

Rightfully so, now celebrated chef JP Anglo had earned his spot to represent a respectable brand such as Globe Platinum. He was a freshman three times, figuring out what to do with his life until he finished a business degree. Then he studied cooking, had a bumpy road to starting his business and after several tries, now owns two well-received restaurant brands, Sarsa and Kafe Batwan.

Clearly, it's all about going for what you want no matter what the challenges there maybe. This could be cliche to some but isn't this the story of most Globe Platinum subscribers? They are now enjoying the perks of good life after years and years of hard work.

During his launch as Globe Platinum's latest ambassador, Chef JP poured all what he has learned about food to celebrate with his friends from Globe and the media in a lunch menu fit for the VIPs. It was a sumptuous spread of the best Negrense dishes, which is exactly the standout point of Kafe Batwan.

Let me show you the feast that we had.

Untitled Skipping breakfast has its perks, so you have enough space to enjoy all this. You can enjoy the same Negrense gastronomic pleasure in Kafe Batwan which is located at the Joya Tower in Rockwell.

Untitled Served piping hot is the Mushroom and Clam Tinola Soup. A little overwhelming at first but that is what the bread is for. Don't worry about asking for another bowl. In Kafe Batwan, that's so normal. :)

Untitled Grilled Shrimp in Talangka Gata - the name says it all.

Untitled Who doesn't love Lechon Kawali? This is the Lechon Kawali with Sinamak and Chocolate sauce. Who could've thought that a vinegar with such a strong taste can blend well with chocolate. This Lechon Kawali is extremely crunchy too!

Untitled Sauteed French Beans with Crispy Dilis looks so humble. But mind you this is an interesting fusion of flavors, from spicy to slight salty.

Untitled Meet the Nose to Tail Kare Kare which is sealed really delicious with Ginamos, the Cebuano term for Bagoong or the salted shrimp taste.

Untitled  Some Early Grey Iced Tea to cleanse the tongue from all the rich flavors that it has tasted so far.

Untitled Your favorite toron levels up! First in the dessert, the Toron with Chocnut Sauce. Shown in the first photo above is another modern version of a Filipino favorite, the Sizzling Budbud.

Untitled     I decided to eat the salad last so there is less guilt. This is the Spinach with Mango Tuyo Dressing and Crispy Crablets.

Untitled The man of the hour and the newest Globe Platinum Ambassador, Chef JP Anglo.

Untitled Chef was all smiles when he approached our table to check how was our meal. With me in this table were fellow bloggers and online writers.

Chef JP with Globe's bigwigs; event's host Issa Litton, Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, Globe Senior Advisor for Consumer Business Dan Horan, Chef JP, Globe SVP for Consumer Mobile Marketing Issa Cabreira, Globe Platinum Customer Marketing Director Jenn Mallabo and Globe Platinum Brand Director Kaisie del Carmen.
