Tokidoki x Karl Lagerfeld11:29 AM
Everyone fashion-savvy knows the name Karl Lagerfeld. The man who sports around his signature white hair, black glasses and high starched collars. The same person who emerged from a family whose business is to manufacture evaporated milk to become a fashion icon responsible for transforming Chanel and Fendi into global brands. As how Nigel of the "The Devil Wears Prada" puts it, Lagerfeld is "one of the greatest artists of the century."
From a less mainstream section of fashion exists Tokidoki. My apologies. The first letter should never be capitalized. I have to admit I am not so familiar with the brand but creative and artsy people who can't live without their sketch pads are ready to strangle me right now.
tokidoki is an internationally recognized lifestyle brand based on the vision of Italian artist Simone Legno and his partners Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold. Since debuting in 2005, tokidoki has amassed a cult-like following for its larger-than-life characters and emerged as a sought-after global brand. It offers an extensive range of products which include apparel, handbags, cosmetics, accessories, toys (yes, toys!) and more.
Ever since, tokidoki is known for its eye-popping aesthetic and cute characters. But setting more mark for the company is its partnership with mega brands like Hello Kitty, Barbie, Onitsuka Tiger, Marvel and now... Karl Lagerfeld.
Simone Legno is here in the Philippines for an exhibit of tokidoki's characters in SM Aura. Fans (may include me) can visit the Main Atrium, Level 1 of SM Aura Premier from April 25 to May 31 to witness the exhibit. Some of the characters that you'll see and meet are the Cactus Friends, Moofia and Punkstar.
