Asia's Next Top Model Cycle 3

Asia's Next Top Model returns for its third cycle. For Team Philippines, the more entries, the more chances of winning.

After Stephanie Retuya placed 3rd in Season 1 and Jodilly Pendre and Katarina Rodriguez provided Team PH a Top 2 and 3 finish in Season 2, the Filipinas are very determined to win it all this cycle.

The Philippine representatives are (from left to right in the first photo above) Franchesca Lagua, 23, of Quezon City; Monika Sta. Maria, 23, of Manila; and Amanda Chan, 17, also from Manila. Of the three, my personal favorite is Monika who projects the standard qualities of being a top Asian ramp and commercial model. Although, Franchesca and Amanda are women who we can also be proud of.

Aside form the Philippines, the other country sending also three representatives is Indonesia. Of the three Indons, Tahlia Raji is the only serious threat to the Filipinas in my opinion. Other bets from Indonesia are Rani Ramadhany and Gani Ayu.

Basing on the first two episodes, which saw the elimination of Malaysian beauty queen Shareeta Selvaraj and lone Thai bet Kiana Guyon, serious contenders of the title from other countries are Solenn Heussaf's look-alike and Japanese representative Barbara Katsuki and the prettiest Singaporean I've seen, Aimee Bradshaw.

Aimee has a huge advantage. Not only because of her ultra high fashion last name (Hi Carrie!) but she's also the lone representative from the host nation. Remember how Malaysian bet Sheena Liam "controversially" edged out the very spectacular Jodilly Pendre in the previous season which was held in Kuala Lumpur? Insiders say that Liam's win was a way "to lift the spirits of the Malaysians" after the Malaysian Airlines tragedy. The airlines was a major show sponsor last season.

Aside from Barbara and Aimee, providing huge opposition against the Filipina girls may also come from the second of the two representatives from Hong Kong, Lorretta Chow. There were 14 ladies cast for the third cycle with 12 of the remaining in contention. After the first two episodes, 6 girls are capable of being the third winner of Asia's Next Top Model.

Also headlining the new cycle is Georgina Wilson who is hosting the new cycle, replacing Malaysian model and TV personality Nadya Hutagalung. Georgina may have provided the show a younger and fresher take, critics are still to pleased with her toned down hosting approach. Top model fans are used to Tyra Bank's huge personality. Georgina is compensating, however, with her sophistication and beauty.

Joining Georgina in the judging panel is Filipina model-mentor Joey Mead-King and international fashion editorial photographer Mike Rosenthal. Guest judges from sponsor brands sit as the fourth juror in different episodes.

Photos posted here were from the show's premiere party held at Chaos in City of Dreams Manila where the three representatives were joined by host Georgina Wilson and previous cycle's bets Katarina Rodriguez and Jodilly Pendre. New episodes of Asia's Next Top Model are to be aired exclusively on StarWorld every Wednesday at 8:45PM. It is immediately being followed by an encore airing at 9:30PM.

Do you think a Filipina will be on top this time?
