Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado reunite in the intriguing soap 'Rhodora X'

Angel Locsin indirectly admitted that love could be sweeter the second time around between her and ex-boyfriend Luis Manzano. Meanwhile, Luis's ex-girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado took a safer route on possibilities between her and also ex-boyfriend Mark Herras. Not that the next statement is strongly related in context to the first one, Jennylyn and Angel are now in two competing TV series which will both premiere on January 27.

For Starstruck's first ever female champion, she wants to hold on to the friendship which she is enjoying with her Rhodora X leading man and Starstruck co-champion Mark Herras. "Palagi namang espesyal si Mark sa akin eh. Pero I am enjoying the friendship. And ayoko mawala yun," Jennylyn said during the advance screening of her new drama series held earlier tonight, January 22, at GMA Network Center.

But while Jennylyn remained modest on the possibilities of a rekindled love affair, Mark Herras was more optimistic. "Tignan natin. Let's see kung saan patungo to," Mark said with a smile. This is a sudden change of tone for the 27 year-old actor, who five days ago remarked that he is not feeling anything yet. "Wala pa naman akong nararamdaman," he relates during the first bloggers conference held for Rhodora X at the Roots and Herbs Coffee in Quezon City last January 17.

The two ex-lovers are reunited via the dramatic thriller Rhodora X. In this new soap GMA defines as "edgy and groundbreaking", Jennylyn portrays two roles: the mentally ill Rhodora who is suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and Rhodora's alter ego Roxanne. Mark Herras is Joaquin, the fiance of Angela (Yasmien Kurdi) who's love was shifted to Rhodora. Then enters Nico, the character to be played by Mark Anthony Fernandez who will become the new found love of Angela.

Watching the first episode of Rhodora X earlier which is scheduled to premiere on January 27, I observe the soap's pace moving swiftly with the first episode actually ending in a murder. "Ganyan siya kabilis. Ganyan siya ka bago. Wala siyang masyadong iyakan or pinatagal na issue ng mag asawa. Almost every episode may twist," says Yasmien Kurdi who is very proud of the material of her comeback TV show. "Bago to. Hindi to yung pangkaraniwan lang na agawan ng asawa na always natin na nakikita sa TV," she said.

The actors spent three weeks so far to film their new show and the behind the scenes has been fun so far. For the three products of reality search, their friendship has remained intact all throughout the years which made them discover a lot of pleasant changes from each other. "We're much more professional now. Dati, pag nag-aaway kami ni Mark, hindi talaga tuloy ang shooting. Now, aside sa wala ng away, we make sure na hindi affected ang work sa personal stuff," Jennylyn shared where she quickly added, "Hindi na rin babaero si Mark!"

Providing a formidable support for Mark, Jennylyn and Yasmien are Gardo Versoza, Glydel Mercado, Irma Adlawan, Vaness del Moral, Frank Magalona and Miss Boots Anson-Roa. RJ Nuevas heads the creative team as the director with Des Garbes- Severino heading the writers. The creative team assures the audience that they are not overselling the show when they refer to it as "intriguing". "It's designed that way. To move fast and to provide some twists that we've never seen in television yet," Nuevas said.

Rhodora X hits GMA 7's primetime on January 27.
