KC Concepcion on winning MMFF Best Actress and her daring scenes in "Boy Golden"

With only Eugene Domingo (Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel) as her only competition for Best Actress at this year's Metro Manila Film Festival, KC Concepcion will see her impending win as "a cherry on top." The "mega daughter" considers her MMFF entry "Boy Golden (The Arturo Porcuna Story) as her best movie project yet and starring in the movie is already an achievement.

Her leading man, Gov. ER Ejercito proclaimed days ago that KC Concepcion is already assured of winning the Best Actress trophy. KC, meanwhile, is thankful for the Governor's support. "I wanna thank him for his faith in me. He has been so confident in me from the very beggining, for choosing me for this role. For whatever it's worth, with or without an award, it's one of the most fulfilling projects I've ever done. It's a cherry on top because I just won my Best Supporting Actress (27th PMPC Star Awards for TV for "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala") and it would be a nice level-up. But if the universe doesn't agree that I should get it then it's also OK with me," says the young actress in an intimate interview with select bloggers during the movie's mall show in Glorietta Activity Center earlier today.

Her win for a soap opera with Judy Ann Santos is KC's very first acting award. "Awards ay nakadikit na kasi talaga siya sa pangalan mo forever eh. It's more of respect rather than the money but syempre you would also wish for the commercial success of the movie," the former The Buzz host articulated upon asked which between awards and box office success will she choose.

KC, on the other hand, agreed on reactions that she is on her most daring in this movie. "Daring in the sense na madami silang pinagawa. I came to the country as a model and a VJ and I never imagined being a serious actress. As a part of personal growth coming from some controversial issues in my past, I grew as a person. Now, I am starting to take acting more and more seriously," she said. For the young actress, being daring means her boldness in doing several scenes for the first time. KC portrays the role of a stripper and as a female gangster with challenging fight scenes.

On her love scenes with ER, KC was prompt in saying that she never did anything that is not required in the script. She assures the bloggers that her mom Sharon Cuneta is OK with her intimate scenes. "The difference between what she did with her FPJ movies before and this with me is that I went for it. The Governor has been nothing but respectful to me so she has nothing to be worried about," KC shared further.

Boy Golden chronicles the story of Arturo Porcuna, a notorious gangster prominent during the Mafia-like days of Manila in the 60's. Porcuna was feared but he was shot dead in December 24, 1963 by rival gangsters. ER Ejercito will jump from being Asiong Salonga at last year's festival to being Porcuna this year. KC, meanwhile, will portray Porcuna's leading lady named Marla. Part of the cast are John Estrada, Eddie Garcia, Leo Martinez, Gloria Sevilla, Tonton Gutierrez, Baron Geisler and Joem Bascon. The movie is directed by Chito Rono.

The Lifestyle Hub scourged for other possible winners for the Best Actress trophy aside from Domingo and Concepcion and found only Kathryn Bernardo for Pagpag and Yassi Pressman for Kaleidoscope World. Boy Golden Shoot-To-Kill (The Arturo Porcuna Story) will open along with 7 other Metro Manila Film Festival entries on Christmas Day
