Meralco lights up for the holidays

8:05 PM

Take a photo of your lighted Christmas decorations at home or snap a shot at any Meralco Liwanag Park and get the chance to win PhP5,000 in daily prizes!

When I was a kid, me and my mom would build our Christmas tree together. Yes, I say build because she wants to make a Christmas tree from scratch. She asks someone to cut a real tree and she will later on paint it, cover it with ruffled foil, or embellish it with cotton and silver dust . It's changing every year actually but my favorite has always been putting the Christmas lights.

To say the least, my childhood memory of Christmas is all about lights. When we were watching TV together at home, my sisters would often request to switch off the fluorescent lights so we only have the Christmas tree and the TV set illuminating the living room. That sets a perfect mood for my holidays. If we are still doing it today, I know we will be very eligible to join Meralco's contest and win PhP5,000.

Yes, that is right! Meralco has launched their Maliwanag ang Pasko app on Facebook where any fan can upload a photo of their lighted homes for a chance to win PhP5,000 daily. If you have not decorated your homes yet but you are eager to win the prize, you can also visit any Liwanag Park in various municipalities, have your photo taken there, and upload it on the Meralco Facebook app. You will get 5 e-raffle entries upon submission of a photo taken from your home and 1 e-raffle entry if you will upload an image shot from a Liwanag Park. These e-raffle entries will be raffled every day from December 1 to 22 to determine the winner of the PhP5,000 cash prize. However, you can already submit your entry as early as now.

So where are all these Liwanag Parks? You will be pleased to find out that there are 31 of them scattered around Metro Manila and the neighboring provinces. Aside from the Meralco Liwanag Park in Meralco Compound in Ortigas, there are also Liwanag Parks in Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig, Pateros, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, Filinvest City Promenade in Alabang, SM Mall of Asia Arcade in Pasay and in Mowelfund in San Juan.

Those located outside Metro Manila are in the town centers of the municipalities of Angat, Baliuag, Bulacan, Plaridel, San Rafael and Sta. Maria in Bulacan and in Angono, Antipolo, Baras, Binangonan, and Jala-jala in Rizal. Liwanag Parks can also be located in Bacoor, Carmona and Cavite City in Cavite, Cabuyao, Nagcarlan and Pila in Laguna, Dolores in Quezon Province and in Batangas City.

Aside from getting the cash prize, every entry will also contribute to Meralco's program of energizing public schools in Palawan, Bohol, Quezon and in the Dinagat Islands. So are you ready to make the Philippines the holiday destination of the world and at the same time, help underprivileged students in the poorest areas of the country? If you are, then go visit and upload your "Liwanag photos" in the Meralco Facebook app here: Maliwanag ang Pasko 2012.
