Party Pilipinas Sweet (Part 3 of 3) & some Gangnam Style

4:48 PM

For our last Party Pilipinas Sweet, making it to the headlines is Tim Yap's "Gangnam Style" performance together with the boy group XLR8. Tim Yap is a known eventologist, socialite and fashion icon but he surprised Party Pilipinas fans after he danced and sing. Personally, that was one of the most entertaining performances in the entire Party Pilipinas Sweet episode last September 23, 2012.

But what is "Gangnam Style"? As of this writing, the song reached number 2 of the American Billboard charts, the highest position for a Korean song in the US. The song is performed by Korean rapper PSY and has received 352.5 million hits on YouTube as of today, October 3. It has just been awarded by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most liked video in YouTube of all-time with 3.3 million likes.  It is growing to atleast 8 million views a day could be credited to the huge K-pop global following and shared by several Hollywood stars including Tom Cruise, Katy Perry, and even Britney Spears.

The song has been praised for it's catchy tune and humorous dance step that it is in fact nominated for Best Video at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards. But do you know that more than the dance, "Gangnam Style" is actually a term associated with the Gangnam district in Seoul where people are trendy, hip, and classy. PSY himself said in an interview that Gangnam district is the Korean version of USA's Beverly Hills.

Aside from the fun "Gangnam Style" number of Tim Yap, here are the other photos taken during the last 30 minutes of Party Pilipinas Sweet.
